Since ancient times Rudraksha is considered as one of the most precious beads because of its divine healing powers. It is said that only those who are blessed by Lord Shiva get the opportunity to wear it. The word 'Rudraksha' means the eyes of Rudra (Shiva) and his tears (Aksha). The story of the origin of this spiritual pearl explains why it is believed to be blessed by Shiva himself. Rudraksha is naturally a dry nut that grows on the Rudraksha tree. A spiritual Rudra Mala used for prayer and meditation usually consists of 108 beads. These can be found in various forms, i.e. from one mukhi to 27 mukhi. It is believed that whoever wears these beads has the blessings of all the three divine deities i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. What is Rudraksh? Rudraksha tree is known as Eleocarpus gunitrus. It is a large evergreen tree that typically grows in subtropical climates. The tree is mainly found in the Ganges plains in the foothills of the Himalayas and in areas of Southeast Asia including Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Rudraksha seeds are also known as blueberry seeds because the outer shell of the seed is blue when fully ripe. Lord Shiva is also often depicted in blue which represents infinity. This seed is of great importance among spiritual seekers because of its association with Lord Shiva. It is revered as a manifestation of the tears that the Lord once shed.
