What is Chitrak?

  Generally only white paint is taken from Chitrak. White Chitrak pacifies all three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. It calms phlegm because it is pungent, bitter and hot for the stomach. Increases appetite, digests food, prevents vomiting, eliminates stomach worms. It purifies blood and mother's milk. It cures swelling.

It eliminates typhoid fever. Chitrak root cures wounds and leprosy. It also eliminates dysentery, enlargement of spleen, indigestion, itching etc., various skin diseases, fever, epilepsy, neurodisease and obesity etc. White Chitrak strengthens the uterus, destroys bacteria and fungi, is anti-carcinogenic, and heals liver wounds.

It is an erect and green plant for a long time. Its stem is hard, spread, round, straight and hairless. Its leaves are approximately 3.8-7.5 cm long and 2.2-3.8 cm wide. Its flowers are blue-violet or light white in color.
