Hadjod Plant — Identification, Benefits, Uses, Risks and Important Information

Hello everyone! My name is Sitaram Savji Utekar. A warm welcome to all of you to my Maha Ayurvedic Jadibuti channel. Today, we are going to learn about a very well-known traditional medicinal plant called Hadjod.

In this video, we will learn what Hadjod is, how to identify it, where it is found, its traditional uses and possible benefits, as well as its precautions and possible side effects.

The scientific name of Hadjod is Cissus quadrangularis. It belongs to the grape family, Vitaceae, and is a climbing plant. Its most distinctive feature is its thick, green, four-angled stem. The stem has visible joints or nodes, and the plant grows like a vine. Its leaves are green and relatively small.

Hadjod is found in many warm and tropical parts of India. It can grow around fields, bushes, dry areas and other suitable natural environments. In some places, it is also cultivated as a medicinal plant.

Hadjod has been used traditionally in Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine for many years. It is particularly associated with traditional support for bones and the musculoskeletal system. Different parts of the plant, especially the stem, have traditionally been used in various preparations.

The plant contains several natural compounds that have been studied by researchers. Some scientific studies have investigated its possible effects in areas such as bone health, inflammation, pain and metabolism. However, it is important to understand that research into a plant does not mean that it is a guaranteed treatment or cure for a disease.

Hadjod is popularly associated with broken bones because of its traditional name and use. But if someone suffers a fracture, they should never depend only on Hadjod. A fracture requires proper medical examination, an X-ray when appropriate, and treatment under the guidance of a qualified medical professional. Any traditional herbal preparation should only be considered alongside appropriate medical care and professional advice.

Hadjod may not be suitable for everyone. Some people may experience stomach discomfort, gas, loose motions or other digestive problems after taking it. Some individuals may also have sensitivity or an allergic reaction to plant components.

People who are already taking medicines, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, children, and people suffering from chronic illnesses should not start taking Hadjod on their own. It is better to consult a qualified doctor or Ayurvedic practitioner before using it.

Today, Hadjod is available in different forms, including powders, capsules and other herbal preparations. The quality and concentration of these products can vary. Therefore, it is important to purchase products from reliable sources and follow the recommended dosage given by a qualified professional rather than deciding the dose yourself.

Friends, one important thing we should always remember is that natural does not automatically mean completely safe. Every medicinal plant can have benefits, limitations and possible side effects. Information shared on social media should not be treated as a substitute for professional medical advice.

If you are interested in identifying Hadjod in nature, remember its main feature: its thick, green, four-sided stems with visible joints. However, do not consume a wild plant simply because it looks similar to a picture seen online. Correct identification by an experienced botanist, herbal expert or qualified practitioner is important.

So, friends, today we learned about the Hadjod plant, its scientific name Cissus quadrangularis, its identifying features, where it is commonly found, its traditional uses, possible benefits, possible risks and important precautions.

Hadjod is an interesting traditional medicinal plant, but it should be used responsibly. If you have a serious health problem, especially a fracture or severe pain, always seek proper medical attention.
